Delivery Area

We only offer next day cake delivery to mainland England, Wales, and Scotland, this is excluding Highlands (please see below for delivery specific information). We also regret that we are unable to deliver to the Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, and other GB islands, Northern Ireland, BFPO addresses and PO Box numbers.

Our cakes can be delivered on a nominated delivery date (except for Sundays and Mondays). When supplied with sufficient notice, we can ship to GB islands and the Scottish Highlands, but this is not available on a next day delivery service, or a Saturday delivery service. When placing your order, if you’re unsure of any shipping details concerning the Scottish Highlands please contact us on 01626 915150 or email contact@thegiftofcake.com. We can discuss your requirement to see how best we can help.

Nominated Delivery Day

You can nominate a delivery date, except for Sundays and Mondays. We appreciate that having birthday cakes delivered on the birthday is all important. We will do our best to deliver on the day you nominate, dispatching the day before your nominated day, based on DPD’s ‘next day’ service levels, but please bear in mind this is not guaranteed as the courier service is out of our control.

Order Dispatch

All orders are dispatched by express courier for next-day cake delivery. We cannot deliver on the same day as the order is received. For order dispatch ‘working days’ are defined as 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. Orders received before 2pm can be dispatched the same day if the order requires it (for delivery the following day). For orders received after 2pm, the earliest date of dispatch will be the next working day.

Delivery Timescale

All orders are dispatched by DPD’s courier parcel service. Orders may arrive up to 2 working days after dispatch although the large majority arrive the next working day. DPD are experts at getting cakes delivered on the nominated day, but our delivery times are for guidance and cannot be a guaranteed. We are not liable for delivery delays once an order has been dispatched.
To avoid disapointment, for time sensitive orders, please book your delivery for the day prior to the event.

Sundays, Mondays, and Public Holidays

Cake deliveries cannot be made on Sundays, Mondays, and public holidays.

Does the recipient need to be at home to sign for the cake delivery?

DPD provide a sophisticated tracking service, but it is reliant on the correct delivery details submitted when the order is placed. We also require the recipient’s mobile phone number and email address when the order is placed. It is preferred that someone is available to receive the parcel and sign for it.

Courier Deliveries

On the day of delivery our courier will contact the recipient to advise expected time of delivery and to offer delivery options such as leaving the parcel with a neighbour or leaving in a ‘safe place’ agreed with the recipient. If the courier cannot deliver successfully they will leave a card or send an SMS explaining that a delivery has been attempted and giving details of how a re-delivery can be arranged. At no point will the courier reveal what is in the parcel or who sent it. There is a barcode on the parcel that the courier will scan when they deliver the cake so that we know it was safely delivered.
